Mostly, parents do not even recognize any dyslexia symptoms their child has, until s/he goes to a kindergarten or school, and starts to learn symbols there. The children, who have passive and active speech issues, and cannot equal their peers in the skills mentioned above right after the first stage of studies, have to be studied carefully.
Factors to take into account first
Children with dyslexia are being observed with the special emphasis put on their listening, reading, and speaking skills, as well as cognitive abilities. Moreover, the children are being tested psychologically in order to distinguish their functional peculiarities, and develop the appropriate methods of education.
At the teacher’s or parents’ request, the observation is carried out in order to derive the data about the degree of understanding a text while reading or analyzing it, understanding the written speech, or the level of the listening skill. These methods are useful when defining the effective approach to the child’s education.
As the result of the experiments carried out, the estimation of active and passive speech function, of the cognitive abilities as memory, attention, grounding, is derived. In addition, the language, pronunciation, and speech understanding are estimated.
Psychological research of dyslexia
Psychological testing helps to define the emotional aspects negatively influencing on the reading disorder. For this purpose, the anamnesis of the whole family is collected, which includes the presence of emotional violations and mental disorders in the family.
A doctor has to make sure the child has a normal vision and normal hearing ability. Neurological experiments help to distinguish dyslexia among children, as well as neuro-psychological immaturity, or neurological violations, in order to prevent any other diseases.
